Tommy became a centre-half for Burnley FC in 1984 and made 479 appearances for the club including 434 Football League appearances. He scored one of the greatest goals in Burnley FC history against Newcastle in 1952, after a memorable solo run upfield, leading to a crashing shot from distance. He also won three England B caps. In 1962 he played his final game for Burnley, and went on to be a player-manager of Mansfield Town - leading them to promotion from Division Four. He also managed Aston Villa between 1967 - 1968. Later on he them became licensee of the Shooters Arms, in Nelson and then the Hare and Hounds in Harle Syke. After retirement he then went on to give tours at Turf Moor on match days. After suffering from Alzheimers for two years he sadly passed away on July 12, 2009 at the age of 80. We will remember him forever.
